C-M Wellness Day - 2008
Canon-McMillan School
District students had the day
off, May 20, due to a faculty
inservice, but the faculty and
staff took part in a day-long
program of information and
activities to increase their
physical fitness and wellbeing.
The day began with a
healthy breakfast, followed
by a keynote address by
Leslie Bonci from UPMC.
Throughout the day, the
faculty and staff chose four
activities from among the
following: “How to Stay Young
the First 100 Years” workshop,
Ballroom Dancing, Body
Combat (a form of
kickboxing), Body Jam
(aerobic-style hip-hop), Body
Restoration, Healthy
Entertaining, “Stretching Your
Way to Health,” Pilates,
Ping-Pong, Relaxation, Salsa
Dancing, Step Aerobics, Stress
Management, “Truths and
Myths about Chiropractic
Care,” Volleyball, Walking,
“Important Information You
Won’t Hear from Your Medical
Doctor” workshop, Weight
Training Workout, and Yoga.
The Canon-McMillan
nursing staff did body fat
percent testing, BMI and Blood
Pressure screenings, among
others. Local chiropractic
centers performed bone
density, spinal and anti-oxidant
screenings. Jeffreys Drug Store
did a sun damage screening
and the Stroke Institute
checked pulse and heart rates.
